PATMOS 2008 is the eighteenth in a series of international workshops. The PATMOS meeting has evolved into a leading scientific event, where industry and academia meet to discuss power and timing aspects in modern integrated circuit and system design. PATMOS 2008 is organized by INESC-ID and the Technical University of Lisbon, in Lisbon, Portugal. For this edition, we have the privilege to announce three outstanding keynote speakers: Ted Vucurevich, Cadence, Sani Nassif, IBM and Floriberto Lima, Chipidea - MIPS.

The PATMOS objective is to provide a forum to discuss and investigate emerging challenges in methodologies and tools for the design of upcoming generations of integrated circuits and systems, including reconfigurable hardware such as FPGAs. The technical program will focus on timing, performance and power consumption as well as architectural aspects with particular emphasis on modeling, design, characterization, analysis and optimization. The emphasis of the workshop is on, but is not limited to, the following topics:

Timing and Performance

Power Dissipation

Design Experience and Case Studies

Contributions are invited for regular presentations and discussion sessions. Prospective authors are invited to submit their complete manuscript, no later than March 31, 2008 (extended deadline), including a 100-word abstract and illustrations, in A4 camera-ready format, not exceeding 10 pages or 5000 words. Submitted papers will be reviewed formally and anonymously by several reviewers. The PATMOS 2008 proceedings will be published by Springer in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series. Electronic submission is required and should follow the LNCS style. Selected papers will be included in a special issue of Journal of Embedded Computing, published by IOS Press. Proposals for panel sessions and special sessions are encouraged and must also be received no later than March 31, 2008.
