AUTHOR GUIDELINES FOR PREPARATION OF MANUSCRIPTS Congratulations on the acceptance of your paper for publication. Please follow the steps outlined below when submitting the final version of your paper. Please read the following carefully. The proceedings of VLSI'99 will be published as a book by Kluwer Academic Publishers. They will be available at the conference. All registrations include one copy of the book. Additional copies will be available at extra cost; please see the registration form in the conference Web pages for more information. Due to the expense of publishing, each author is required to pre-register for the conference in order to have a paper included in the proceedings. An author with multiple papers need to pre-register only once. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1- SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Due to tight constraints from the publisher, Kluwer Academic Publishers, the submission deadline is August 20th. This deadline will be _strictly_ observed. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2- NUMBER OF PAGES: Your camera-ready paper should be at most 12 pages long (for regular papers) or 8 pages long (for short papers), including all figures and references. Additional pages can be purchased at a rate of USD $100/page, subject to availability, and payment must be included with the pre-registration for the paper to be included in the conference proceedings. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3- FORMATS: The final versions of accepted papers must be submitted electronically. The papers may by prepared in either LaTeX, Word 6 or Word 8. Word 8 is preferable, and all authors are encouraged to submit the final versions of their papers in Word 8 format. Authors preparing the final version of their papers in a different format (LaTeX or Word 6) should submit the final version in PDF format. To format your document over 1 column, you should use the KAP.dot template and its "subordinate" templates called KAPedvo.dot, KAPmono.dot and KAPproc.dot. In case you really need to use a different text typesetting tool, please contact the Publications Chair immediately (reis@inf.ufrgs.br). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4- COPYRIGHT FORM A copyright form must be signed and returned with your final paper submission. I caution you that Kluwer will not publish any paper that is not accompanied by a signed copyright form. In those cases where there is more than one author per paper, the first-named (assumed senior) author only must sign.
